Melinda Ferguson has reacted to AKA and Anele Tembe distancing themselves from the book they wrote about their deceased children.
The famous journalist has published a book about the love story of late rapper Keenan and Anele, also known as Forbes.
according to south african Mr Mankoba Zulu (spokesperson for the Tembe family) said: “The Tembe family did not commission the writing of this book and did not contribute to it in any way. This book therefore represents Melinda's views based on her own research. ” he said.
“We have seen several publications quoting Mr. Tembe. We categorically deny that Mr. Tembe shared such views with Ms. Melinda,” it added.
Tony Forbes and Lynn Forbes also released a statement regarding the book.
“We have no connection with Melinda Ferguson's book. We do not endorse it. At the same time, we distance ourselves from the content of the book.
“When Melinda contacted us, we respectfully and rightfully declined her contribution to the book. At this time, we do not know what the book is about and cannot comment further. I can not do it.”
The late AKA's parents said Melinda was an opportunist and found the book offensive.
However, journalist Ferguson said he did not need the approval of both families to publish the book.
“As a journalist, it's not about having the blessing of your family, it's about telling the story as truthfully as possible. I encouraged the participation of all parties, but it's not about having someone else's blessing when writing the book. It wasn't dependent.”
“I am extremely sorry for Forbes, their loss, his fans and the senseless loss of Tebelo “Tibs” Motsoane and his family. No family deserves to be buried, but I stand by my book and believe this story needs to be told. I did the work. I interviewed people on both sides. is reported to have said.
“I also spoke to people close to Mr. Moses Tembe and Mr. Keenan, and most of them did not want to give their names. They don't want to be identified.”
