As part of its back to school programme, Metro World Kids (MWK) Johannesburg visited El Dorado Park Primary School.
The purpose of the visit was to support new learners on their first day of school and provide guidance to repeat learners.
The first day of school can be stressful, if not nerve-wracking, for children as they are exposed to an environment filled with lots of kids and new experiences.

MWK's January motto is “Be a light to others,” which aims to educate returning learners on how to help new learners navigate this new big environment .
They focus on children between the ages of 6 and 13 and believe that raising boys and girls is better than fixing adults.
MWK Director Grisson Niekerk explained: “It can be a dark world in terms of chaos, negative effects and not having enough things at home, but today we can be a light by helping other children start their first lives.” taught the learners that “school day” and to lead them to the light. ”
School is the best time in each learner's life and it is important for children to have fun and do their best in schoolwork. However, some children avoid school because they feel it is not a safe place due to bullying.
Carlette Muller spoke about the effects of bullying and the importance of reporting bullies to teachers. The school has junior leaders who not only help new students acclimate to the environment, but also help prevent bullying.

“We have social workers in schools who intervene and talk to children to find the real problem.
“Most of the time there is a background that leads to bullying, which could be because a parent took drugs or was exposed to gender-based violence. And they think it's normal to attack someone. “,” Muller said.
Metro Kids Africa provides character building lessons for children and teaches them important truths that they forget every month. Their main goal is to ensure that children grow up to be good leaders.
