Microsoft's second-quarter earnings report includes for the first time the impact of the company's $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. “Microsoft hasn't released specific numbers, but overall gaming revenue increased by 49 percent, with 44 points of that coming from the 'net effect' of the Activision deal,” Engadget reports. From the report: Microsoft's More Personal Computing division, which includes Xbox, Surface and Windows, grew 19% ($16.9 billion) from last year. The company said its deal with Activision accounted for 15 points of this increase. This is a big change for a sector that has been severely affected by declining PC sales (affecting Windows licenses and Surface) and the struggles of Xbox consoles. His PC device sales for the quarter were down 9%, while Xbox hardware sales were up 3%. Xbox content and services revenue is also up 61% from last year, with 55 points coming from Activision. Overall, Microsoft reported revenue of $62 billion, up from $52.7 billion in the year-ago period. Microsoft's cloud division posted a 28% increase in revenue, with Intelligent Cloud revenue increasing 20% to $25.9 billion. Meanwhile, the Productivity and Business Processes sector earned him $19.2 billion.
