Minister of Land Reform and Rural Development Mzwanele Nyontso said he will consult with AmaZulu King Miszulu Kazwelithini over attempts to remove some members of the Ingonyama Trust Board.
Nyonsho said the king had acted beyond his authority by suspending board members, arguing that only ministers had such authority.
Nyonsho said due process should be followed in suspending board members.
“We still want to talk to the King, but then we also respect the fact that the King is in seclusion until January 15th. I hope to be able to say that it is still under consideration.”
“If there are unavoidable circumstances that require us to dissolve the board of directors, we will dissolve the board of directors. However, when we dissolve the board of directors, we will try to bridge all gaps and avoid going to court. All processes must be followed,” Nyonsho added.
