Parliament says it is a constitutional obligation for ministers to respond and respond to MPs' written questions in a timely manner.
It was revealed that 259 questions remained unanswered by ministers.
Parliamentary Spokesperson Moloto Mosapo said all questions yet to be answered were within the prescribed deadline set for answers.
Motapo said, “In the National Assembly, a total of 2,793 questions were asked to the Cabinet, including 2,475 written questions and 318 oral questions.Of these oral questions, 12 were directed to the President; The matter was directed to the Vice President.
He said, “In terms of answers in the National Assembly, 1,801 written questions and 285 oral questions were answered.Some questions have not been answered even within the deadline set in the parliamentary rules. The response rate reflects our commitment to accountability, but also highlights the importance of ensuring timely and comprehensive responses to all parliamentary questions.”
Deputy President Paul Mashatil, in his capacity as head of government affairs, said the official deadline for ministers to submit written parliamentary responses was January 9.
