Former Kaizer Chiefs defender and television analyst Siphiwe Mkhonza died on Tuesday at the age of 44.
TV presenter and actress Minnie Dlamini has spoken candidly about receiving the shocking news of the death of former Kaizer Chiefs defender and TV analyst Siphiwe Mkhonza on Tuesday.
Dlamini and Mkhonza, fondly known as Dr Mnandi, worked together for four years at SABC Sport at SoccerZone.

Siphiwe Mkhonza’s battle with illness
According to a report by sunday world, Mkonza has been battling a kidney infection for a long time. Confirming his death on Tuesday morning, his family said in a statement that Mkonza was admitted to Charlotte Makseke Hospital. They thanked his former employer and colleagues at the SABC, fellow football legends from his stable and friends who supported him during his illness.

His former team, Kaizer Chiefs, released a statement about X, expressing their condolences.

Radio and TV sportscaster Zoli Zondo also wrote a heartwarming post about X for her former colleagues.

The SABC also expressed its condolences to Mr Mkonza's family on X.
