The South African Weather Service has warned that severe thunderstorms with high winds, excessive lightning strikes and heavy rain may cause localized damage to infrastructure, vulnerable areas (formal/informal settlements), roads and low-lying bridges. A Level 2 yellow alert has been issued as it could lead to flooding. Western Mpumalanga, western Bushveld, south-west Limpopo and over Gauteng.
A Level 2 Amber Alert is expected to be in effect between Cape Columbine and Cape Agulhas from Monday afternoon until Tuesday, with damaging winds causing navigation difficulties and disruption to small local ports.
A very high fire risk is expected in Dawid Kruper in the Northern Cape, Machhaben in the Free State and Msina in Limpopo.
