“The Tembe family did not commission the writing of this book and did not contribute in any way. This book is therefore Melinda's own views based on her own research,” Zulu said.
He also refuted the views said to have been expressed by a Durban businessman mentioned in the book.
“We have come across several publications that have quoted Mr. Tembe. We categorically deny that Mr. Tembe shared such views with Ms. Melinda.”

AKA's family also released a statement distancing themselves from Ferguson's book.
“We have no connection with Melinda Ferguson's book. We do not endorse it. At the same time we distance ourselves from the content of the book.
“When Melinda contacted us, we respectfully and rightfully declined her contribution to the book. At this time, we do not know what the book is about and cannot comment further. I can not do it.”
The Forbes family also questioned the book's intentions and timing, labeling it “offensive and opportunistic.”

Ferguson announced in a Facebook post on Thursday, April 11th (which coincided with the third anniversary of Anele's death) that the book will be released this week.
She further said: “I've never been so passionate about writing a book. I've never been so taken aback by a story. I've never been so secretive, but this news just leaked on social media…so this… It’s from the horse’s mouth.”
Ms Anele, 22, died on April 11, 2021 as a result of injuries sustained in a fall from the 10th floor of the Pepper Club Hotel on Roop Street in Cape Town. She was with her fiancé, rapper AKA (her real name). Keenan Forbes – murdered in Durban on 10 February 2023.
In 2022, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) ruled Anele's death a suicide. However, her family disputed these findings. As a result, following Mr AKA's murder, the decision was taken to refer the matter to the Coroner's Court.

talk to SABC News In an interview with Criselda Lewis last week, Tembe slammed the Western Cape NPA for repeatedly delaying the inquest. He shared that the issue was scheduled to begin in October last year, but there were many postponements.
“I would venture to say that the responsibility for this lies directly with the people of Cape Town. I think it is time to stop blanketing the issue and saying the NPA is this, the NPA is that. We need to focus on the individuals. Those people weren't doing their job well,” Anele's father said.
Tembe also said the legal representative had not explained the reason for the delay. However, he revealed that AKA's lawyers had raised objections during the previous meeting.
