Moses Tembe spoke about the death of his daughter Anele Tembe in an exclusive interview with SABC.
Anele was in a relationship with the late Keenan, also known as Forbes, who died after falling from the 10th floor of the Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town on April 11, 2021.
AKA, who was shot and killed in February 2023, spoke about the death of her ex-girlfriend in an interview. She claimed that she had had suicidal thoughts on various occasions before she jumped to her death.
“It wasn't the first time Anele had threatened to harm herself; she had also threatened to crash her car into a wall, been talked to from a ledge in the Hilton Hotel in Durban, and spent some time in a psychiatric hospital. “I've spent some time 'Be careful after that incident,'” he said.
However, Moses believes there was foul play that led to Anele's death.
“What we have heard is that she was actually noticed and spotted on the street by other women. Somebody felt there might be foul play, but no one knew what to do. One wasn’t there,” he said.
The businessman was dragged into custody after AKA's death as netizens believed he was the mastermind behind the assassination, but he denied the rumors and said he wanted the rapper to survive.
“It was always important to have Keenan in the audience, whether as a witness or a defendant, and a proper closure required the last person who was with my daughter to be on the stand.”
“He approached us and wanted to marry our daughter. We also accepted him as a son. I liked Keenan, he never did a wrong thing in front of me. I really liked him.”
Moses Tembe has revealed how he heard about his daughter's death.
“I had to go to church, but unexpectedly the brothers came to tell me some very sad news. It hurt so much. , That sinking feeling was quite painful.”
“I couldn't go there because I was in Durban. It was very shocking to turn on the TV and see your daughter lying there covered in aluminum foil. It was a terrible experience. At the time, we didn't know any details other than that she had collapsed. We were told she was alive for 20 minutes before she died,” Moses added.
