Moosa Kaula has been charged with criminal harm, breach of section 19 of the Cyber Crimes Act 2020, and hate speech.
Over a week ago, it was reported that a controversial YouTuber had been arrested.
Details of his arrest were vague until the National Prosecuting Authority released a statement on his case.
The 33-year-old appeared in Randburg District Court over some of his tweets against the businessman.
“Between October 10 and 12, 2024, the defendant posted on his social media platform with a substantial following with the intent to undermine, injure or injure the dignity of businessman Mr. Zee Numalo (44). He is suspected of posting derogatory remarks.” Read the statement.
However, Musa Kaula was denied bail due to the murder case.
“In court, the state opposed bail citing the defendant's pending 2022 murder case in the Free State and outstanding arrest warrants for reckless and negligent driving. It became clear that the defendant's profile and address still needed to be verified in order to prepare a comprehensive statement for the application.
“Kawula was then remanded in custody without bail until January 21, 2025, when his formal bail application will be heard.”
