Democratic Alliance (DA) Gauteng premiership candidate Solly Msimanga has said he will restore investor confidence if he is voted into office at the next general election.
Speaking at the Leya Ba Tsena provincial rally in Soweto, Msimanga said investors were waiting for a government that did not loot the national treasury.
Mr Msimanga laments that tertiary graduates in particular remain unemployed as the Democratic Alliance holds its Gauteng Leya Ba Tsena rally in Soweto in the countdown to the general election.
In a final bid to win the hearts and minds of Gauteng residents, the party has renewed its resolve to fight crime, corruption and unemployment.
“We are already in talks with domestic and international investors and people who are excited to work with us, as we work with world-renowned scientists in the field of water and energy. They say they can rely on us because we are not politicians bent on looting, so we can create jobs and give up on social subsidies that are not sustainable. It reduces dependence,” says Msimanga.
But as a competitive election approaches, dark clouds are gathering over the Gauteng DA.
Last year's adverse audit opinion into the NPA-led coalition in Tshwane and the cholera outbreak in Hammanskraal metro is still fresh in many people's minds.
“It is very unfair to blame Solly Msimanga for what is happening now as he was the Mayor of Tshwane from 2016 to 2017. It was a fatal mistake. The financial crisis had nothing to do with Mr Solly. The ANC took control of Tshwane and plundered it, and we have been rebuilding ever since. DA federal chair Helen Zeal said.

Supporters gathered to fill the small Soweto theater. Some even traveled to Sebokeng to express support for the party's prime ministerial candidate.
“We're here to celebrate the victory we've worked so hard for,” the supporter says.
The party says the upcoming general election is a turning point for the state.
