Doja Cat and her biological father Dumisani Dlamini have had a tumultuous relationship for some time.
American music artist Doja Cat updated her bio on X (formerly Twitter) to directly criticize her South African father, actor Dumisani Dlamini.

This is not the first time that their non-existent relationship has attracted attention.
In an interview on US broadcaster Ebro Darden's Apple Music 1 show, Doja Cat (real name Zandile Dlamini) opened up about her relationship with her father.
When asked by the host, she answered, “No, I have met your father.”
When Ebro asked if she had ever been to South Africa or if she was planning to go, Doja replied:
“I haven't done it yet. [been]. I rely on my career to throw me in different places. I don't have time in my life. I can fly, but I don't particularly like such long flights. ”
Many people will know Mr. Dlamini from his work on TV shows. Ishibaya and Gizo Gizowas part of the cast. Sarafina! It was on Broadway in the late '80s.
My encounter with actor Whoopi Goldberg, who appeared in Sarafina!Doja said that looking at her reminded him of his father.
“I'm thinking about my dad because he was in Sarafina, so it's really crazy to meet you,” Doja told Goldberg a few years ago when he asked her father's name. Goldberg said he was shocked.
“Get out of her…good guy, really good guy,” Goldberg said.

Dlamini occasionally shares videos of Doja on her Instagram. In a 2020 interview with Metro FM, Dlamini said he had been looking for his daughter for years and had been prevented from meeting Doja.
“I tried to look for the baby, but the company that runs her entertainment has blocked me. They know that if I could get her, she would probably disappear from the picture.” I know that my daughter is looking for me everywhere.”
In 2022, Dlamini was booked for an event in Soweto, but what was strange was that the event flyer chillingly listed him as “Doja Cat's father” .
In the same year, Dlamini shared a video with late kwaito star Mampintsha.
In it, the Big Nuz artist says, “If you ever get a chance to call her, tell her you want to make a song together.''
Dlamini recently showed her pride at Coachella Fest when she performed with Doja Cat, who shared the stage with Mzansi group The Joy.
Dlamini rose to fame after playing Crocodile in the 1992 musical film. Sarafina! Additionally, he reprized the role in the Broadway version of the production.
He spoke to the media at the funeral. Sarafina! Earlier this year, Dlamini said of author Mbongeni Ngema that there would be no Doja Cat without him.

BET Awards
Doja Cat is one of the recently announced leading contenders for this year's BET Awards.
She is nominated for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and Best Female Hip-Hop Artist for her video. Agora Hills was nominated in the Video of the Year category and was also nominated for the Viewer's Choice Award.
South Africa's Focalistic was recognized in the Best International Performance category, while Makazi and Tyler will compete for the viewer's choice award for Best New International Performance.
