Bafana Bafana defeated Morocco 2-0 in the African Cup of Nations to advance to the quarter-finals.
Former Springbok coach Jack Nienaber, still wearing his Lilo and Stitch Christmas sweater, cheered on Bafana Bafana in their match against Morocco and watched the round of 16 match on his mobile phone.

South Africa defeated the North African giants 2-0 in the Round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), setting up a match against in-form Cape Verde in the quarter-finals on Saturday.

Ninavar was one of many South Africans to congratulate the national football team on their victory. South Africa's political parties could not contain their excitement over Bafana Bafana's victory either, with X congratulating the team, while the EFF called on the entire country to rally behind the team.

Former EFF national president Dali Mpofu has criticized Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Gigi Kodwa for not sending South African fans to AFCON to support the national team, saying the Springboks were not allowed to play during the rugby period. Kodwa also tweeted a message of congratulations.
“This victory shows what our national team can achieve with the support of South Africans. Let's continue to support Bafana Bafana as we head towards the AFCON 2023 quarter-finals,” the Minister said.
Former Bafana Bafana defender Mark Fish congratulated his team on winning the AFCON, joking about manager Hugo Bruce's gray hair.
