What do you think about the theme #RideTheWave?
“I think it has a very multifaceted meaning. It could mean waves of change, waves of power, waves of new beginnings – at least, that's how I see it. It also gives us the opportunity for different interpretations in terms of how we combine our styles – colors, textures and our personal take on waves.”
Designer collaboration?
“As this is my first time doing Durban July, I wanted to work with a tailor who really understands my silhouette and make it uniquely me. It's a bit nerve-wracking as designers are so demanding, but I was very particular about the details I wanted. However, I'll be collaborating with Steve Madden South Africa on the shoes and accessories, so I'm excited!”
What was the inspiration for your outfit?
“When I saw the theme, I thought of mermaids! I grew up obsessed with mermaids, so I thought of silhouettes and flowing water.”
What are you most looking forward to?
“I was able to speak to some people through interviews with Unilever brands and parties! I had to change my flight because I was told I wouldn't be able to make it to something early on!”
Whether it's fashion, racing or great company, Hollywood Bets Durban July promises to be an unforgettable event. Get ready to ride the wave, Mzansi!

What do you think about the theme #RideTheWave?
“I love this year's Durban in July theme, #RideTheWave! It's so refreshing and captures the essence of embracing the momentum and energy of the event.”
Designer collaboration?
“We are thrilled to collaborate with talented designer Masango by Siphosihle, who have created stunning costumes that perfectly capture the spirit of the theme.”
What was the inspiration for your outfit?
“My inspiration came from the ocean waves and the tides. I was inspired by things that come from the sea and are washed up on shore by the waves – pearls and shiny treasures. So, yes, the idea is to look like a mermaid washed up on the shore and walking amongst people. I wanted the outfit to exude confidence, grace and movement.”
What are you most looking forward to?
“The electric atmosphere, the fashion and of course the thrill of horse racing!”
Doro Monji
What do you think about the theme #RideTheWave?
“I love this theme and see it as a comment on the current political climate. The tides are shifting, bringing new and exciting things to the country. The waves are unpredictable and inviting us to come together and be part of the change.”
Designer collaboration?
“Masango by Siphosihle.”
What was the inspiration for your outfit?
“I was inspired by the power of waves crashing against a rocky shore – the way they wrap around the rocks, caress them, mould them and smooth them out. I thought, 'It would be interesting to play with a fabric that wraps around and moulds to my body.'”
What are you most looking forward to?
“The splendor of the costumes and the festive atmosphere of the day.”
