Naledi Aphiwe has apologized following the incident at the Mthandeni Summer Experience event.
The 18-year-old singer was booed, stormed off stage and assaulted during a performance at an event on Sunday.
The audience was reportedly angry when Gascheni went on stage to perform after being asked to perform.
Naledi, whose voice will be featured on Chris Brown's 2024 album, released an official statement apologizing to everyone involved who was offended.
“First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mtandeni and his amazing team for providing me with a performance and a platform to connect with his supporters. I appreciate the importance of this opportunity. I understand and truly appreciate the support extended to me,” she wrote.
“I would also like to extend my sincere apologies to Gasheni and his team. It was never my intention to cause any confusion or disrespect, especially for a respected and established artist in the Maskandi community.
“I recognize that my actions were thoughtless, and I deeply regret my on-stage behavior. I respect the values of this community, and I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on my actions and, as an artist, , I will strive to ensure that I can grow as an individual.
Naledi said he takes full responsibility and will focus on getting better.
“I understand that the path to success is not only about talent, but also about maturity, respect and cooperation. I take full responsibility for my actions and am committed to working on myself during this period. I recognize that this is a time of growth and will focus on honing my craft and building a stronger, more professional approach to my music and career.”
