NEC XON is This played a pivotal role in Emtel's recent recognition as the winner of Ookla's Mauritius Speedtest Award for Mobile Network Speeds for Q2 and Q3 2023.
The collaboration between NEC XON and Emtel was led by NEC XON Key Account Executive Jurie Cordier and Emtel CEO Kresh Goomany.

Emtel's 5G network already covers 80% of Mauritius' population and plans to expand coverage in 2024. Mr Goumaney said: We are proud to be the first company to launch 5G in such an important area of the island. ”
Emtel users will now experience super-fast speeds and ultra-low latency on the Emtel 5G mobile network, significantly improving the mobile data browsing experience for customers.
Mauritius' Information and Communications Technology Authority (ICTA) granted 5G licenses to three of the country's mobile network operators (My.t mobile, Emtel, and CHiLi Mauritius) in July 2021 to facilitate the rollout of commercial services. In this competitive market, Emtel stands out with its 5G network deployment that covers 80% of the population and offers low latency, which is essential for the current hybrid work models adopted by enterprises.
Cell upgrade
