After captivating the audience with his role as Wim, Deep Waters Since the telenovela began, Niels van Jaarsveld has officially left the series, with his final episode airing on Tuesday, September 24th.
Wim's storyline ended with a tragic car accident after the breakdown of his relationship with Rose (played by Eloise Cupido).
Reflecting on his performance in Dieppe Waters, van Jaarsveld expressed his love for the challenges the role presented, particularly the unexpected twists that captivated both himself and the audience.
“I'm enjoying the twists on the character – it makes it a challenging role for me as an actor and an exciting role for the audience. It was important to me to approach the scenes as sincere, honest and vulnerable as possible.”
He also praised the show's cast and crew, highlighting the energy of the young actors and their hard work behind the scenes.
“The energy of the younger actors and the stamina of the older actors. The people behind the scenes work incredibly hard and it's important to give them credit as well.”

Niels van Jaarsveld's future plans
He said he is working on several projects through his production company Met Aish, adding that he hopes to “publish a collection of my writings and complete an exciting film project that I am currently working on as producer, writer and lead actor.”
Van Jaarsveld also said Wim's departure would see him return to Cape Town.
“Yes, I say goodbye to Johannesburg for now. Two years is a long time to be away from home, but if an interesting project comes along I'll pack my bags and go again. You have to keep moving and keep rocking,” he said.
