South African men's 400m relay team wins appeal after disqualification
The battle between South Africa and Nigeria continues to rage on following the recent turmoil at the 2024 Olympics.
The Nigerian men's 4x400m relay team was disqualified, but the South African men's team won the appeal.
Four Nigerian athletes, Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathaniel, Dubem Amene and Chidi Okezie, were disqualified from the men's 4x400m final for allegedly breaching the competition rules.
The athletes were disqualified for stepping over the line during the semi-final heat and will miss the men's 4x400m final.
South Africa appealed, claiming they had been thwarted in their victory. Botswana and Zambia also reached the final.
Following the recent disqualification, Mzansi Twitter has been flooded with memes and various tweets targeting Nigerians.
