Nigerians have been mocking South African fashion designers following the success of Durban July 2024 which took place last weekend.
One of South Africa's most prestigious horse racing events, Durban July also serves as a glamorous fashion showcase attracting designers and fashion enthusiasts from across the continent.
However, the 2024 Games have sparked a wave of humorous comments from Nigerians, who have taken to social media to critique and ridicule some of the bold fashion choices on display.
Despite clearly taking inspiration from Nigerian designs, several South African fashion designers failed to impress, sparking a firestorm of criticism from Nigerians who expected more.
Influencer and DJ, Sian Boosie showed off a Nigerian inspired outfit but it seems her designer failed to do her outfit justice as her outfit was mocked by both Nigerians and 9ja social media users.
“If you're going to copy or take inspiration from other people's work, at least do it well,” wrote user X.
Imagine if Nigerian celebrities came to Durban, they would dwarf South African celebrities.

Thank you Danilo for the flowers. “We will not hold on to the end”Sewing is one of the most traditional skills in Nigeria.
It's not surprising that many of our designers are very talented, I've even created some designs for South Africans.
And they love it.
One Love 🫶🏾
