The bishop was one of 58 members of the MK party who were sworn in as members of parliament on Tuesday.
“However, we have found that some people have misinterpreted this as her own oath as a member of parliament.”
“We would like to categorically state that Mr Phindile Gwala was not the person who was sworn in at the ceremony. We appreciate the interest and support and ask that this clarification be recorded to avoid any further misunderstandings.”
Bishop Mtsweni is from KwaZulu-Natal and was married to Dr Adam Mtsweni, leader of the Maokeng branch of the Apostolic Faith Mission in Tembisa, who passed away in 2021.
The statement concluded with Gwara Ngandu thanking her for the interest in her endeavours and expressing her excitement to continue working in the entertainment industry.
