Flushing a toilet or taking a proper bath has been a pipe dream for thousands of residents since lightning struck the Eikenhof pumping station, causing long water outages in parts of the city.
Although the pumps were repaired, the highlands were left without water.
The situation worsened due to high temperatures, dry reservoirs, large pipe bursts and a power outage at the Zwartkoppie pumping station, leaving several suburbs without water.
The disruption caused by the lightning strike highlighted the vulnerability of Johannesburg's water system, as there was no support to prevent it from collapsing.
Experts have warned that the situation is unlikely to improve and more water outages are expected.
If you live in Johannesburg, News24 would love to hear how you've coped over the past few days without water.
