Nomzamo Mabasa is grateful for winning the Best Actress in a Television Drama category at the 18th South African Film and Television Awards.
The star took to Instagram to share a sweet photo of herself attending an awards ceremony last weekend.
It was the first time Nomu had been nominated in that category, and she returned home with a win.
“I am so honored by the recognition from the judges and fellow creators…mainly because it gave me the opportunity to play Princess Nandi, who later became the Empress Dowager,” she wrote.
Shaka Ilembe's TV drama brought victory to the actress, and the drama brought multiple victories.
“We won 11 trophies in a variety of categories, including Best TV Drama. The show has created 10,000 jobs, hundreds of cast and crew perform every day, and is an outstanding inspiration. They are giving it to me.”
“The respect I have for my fellow actors, the deep, deep love I have for my staff…directors, hair and makeup, costume design, language coaches…the list goes on.”
“This was my first time as an executive producer and it was the toughest job I have ever had. Working with giants @zwabheka and @bomb_productions, a visionary in Angus Gibson, and a solid team. That's Nhlanhla Mutaka for the leadership of @sasapiliso, Calvo Mawela and the unforgettable support of @multichoice_group.
“They have encouraged me, supported me and really lifted me up in so many ways. I want to continue to learn and grow and hopefully inspire all women and girls to understand their purpose and timing in life. I want to inspire you to always hold on and trust the process. I am living proof of what God's mercy is capable of.”
