The NPA has said it is unlikely that prosecutions will be successful.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has dropped all charges against television presenter and rapper Molemo Katlego Mahlohanye, popularly known as Jubu Jubu.
“This decision follows careful consideration of the police case file, the prosecutor's report and recommendations, and information provided to the NPA through the defence's statement submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP),” the NPA said in a statement on Thursday.
NPA spokesman Pindi Mjonondwane said prosecutors had concluded there was no prospect of a successful prosecution.
“As a result, it was prudent to drop the charges of rape, attempted murder and assault against Maarohanye,” Myonondwane said.

13 charges against ex-lovers
Maalohanieh was charged with 13 counts of rape, attempted murder and assault against his former girlfriend, actress Amanda Dupont, and other women between 2006 and 2009. Dupont filed a rape complaint against Maalohanieh in February 2022.
Following his social media comments, three other women made similar allegations. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued and Malohanye handed himself in to authorities and appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court where he was released on R10,000 bail.
Prospects for successful prosecution
Myonondwane said the NPA takes all allegations of sexual violence seriously and will not hesitate to take a proactive stance only where there is relevant evidence to support the allegations.
“Unfortunately, in this case, after further assessment of the available evidence, the charges were dropped as there was no prospect of a successful prosecution,” Myonondwane said.
