2022 Winter Olympic Champion Vicky Wright of Scotland joins teammate Eve Muirhead as part of the instructor team for the World Curling Adult Camp, to be held in Tallinn, Estonia from 6 to 8 December 2024. I have joined.
“We are very excited to announce the signing of two reigning Olympic champions, Eve Muirhead and Vicky Wright, as part of our team of world-class instructors in Tallinn,” said Camp Hotshot Curling Camp. Director David Gravel said: “Together with World Curling, our goal is to foster and grow the sport of curling at the grassroots level.It's great to see these elite athletes want to give back to the sport they love..“
“I'm really looking forward to serving as an instructor at the World Curling Adult Camp in Estonia,” Wright said. “Since retiring, I am in a privileged position to be able to return to the sport in my free time and contribute to the growth of the sport. Curling has given me so much enjoyment over the years that I have turned to curling coaching and teaching. I really enjoy it. Besides playing sports and being part of a team that strives to win, it's also about the friendships and memories you make along the way.”
Vicky, the reigning Olympic and European Champion, will retire from competitive curling in 2022 to pursue a career in nursing and start a family with her husband Greg Drummond, 2014 Olympic Team Silver Medalist. Vicki is her ICU nurse at the Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert, near her home in Stirling, Scotland.
Over the past 29 years, Hot Shot Curling Camp has brought together more than 3,800 recreational and elite curlers, as well as international coaches and instructors. The camp curriculum covers all aspects of the sport, from balance, delivery, release, and lock rotation to classroom sessions focused on team communication, team dynamics, and strategy.
Vicki is excited to be a member of the Hot Shot Curling Camp instructor team. This team includes World Champions, Olympic Champions, Canadian Champions, American Champions, and elite instructors and coaches.
“The Hotshot Curling Camp program is great,” Wright said. “The curriculum offers a wide range of skills, from technical to tactical skills, to improve and enhance your enjoyment of the game.”
“It (camp) is also a social weekend where you get the chance to meet and make friends with so many great people. I am so excited to be part of the Estonian team of instructors and all the campers who attend I can’t wait to meet and work with you.”
The World Curling Adult Camp will be held from December 6th to 8th, 2024 in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, during the Christmas market season. Camp registration is limited to 48 people.
