In 2022, Hailey Bieber, the influencer who brought us all the “glazed donut skin” trend, has launched her own skincare line. Rhode's main product (which is amazing) is his lip cream. Last week, when Hailey and her influencer exec teased a phone case with an exclusive lip balm, some people on the internet (and our Gear her team) were enraged all at once. Lip balm holder? Inside your smartphone case? It is necessary.
You can purchase this case for $35 and join the waitlist here. Available on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15, as well as the Pro version of each, it has a dedicated storage slot for your Rhode lip tint or treatment. Unfortunately, it is only available in sage green, but the silky silicone curves are very attractive. You can always find lip balm. As long as it's Lord's stuff, anyway. But that might be enough for now.

Let's put the hard truths aside. If you get caught up in this lawsuit, you essentially turn yourself into a walking, unpaid road advertising ad. Every time you take a selfie in the mirror, put your phone on the table, or text at the coffee shop, Rhode's lip treatments take center stage. This is a case designed to attract attention and nothing else. Wireless charging requires removing the case and you can say goodbye to the mount and his MagSafe card wallet.
We haven't gotten our hands on it yet, but what happens if Lorde stops selling lip balm? (Forbidden!) What are the chances that it will match Summer Friday's lip balm or Aquaphor? The product page states that the case is made of silicone, but no further details exist, especially regarding sustainability. The company did not respond to requests for comment.
That being said, I'm a big proponent of feminine technology and tech accessories. We use mobile phones for everything. They are our cameras, wallets, maps, and books. These are one of the few items on my checklist of things to have before leaving home. There are many very practical ways to utilize the back of your phone. Don't like the grip on your phone? Try a strap, ring, or suction mount. Do you want to take the risk and go caseless? There's a skin for it. If you're a photographer, you can add lenses. If your device has a charging port, you can add a dust plug. You can also add a wallet if practical. Gamers may want something like a charging case.
