The Anambra Police Command has named two perpetrators of the recent brutal murder of worshipers at St. Philip's Chapel. Ozobulu, a member of the Catholic Church, is currently serving a prison sentence in South Africa, they said.
The command has revealed that two indigenes of Nnobi and Oba in Anambra State were the masterminds of the incident which left 18 people dead and 10 injured.
Before their arrest, the suspects had vowed to carry out further attacks if their unspecified financial demands were not met.
Correspondent Bamidele Ajayi reports that during a police investigation, two of the perpetrators, Prince Charles Obi alias Godzilla and his business associate Dickson Nwodi alias Afiam, confessed to the crime and are currently serving prison terms in South Africa. It has been reported that this has become clear.
CP Umar further stated that Interpol is currently investigating the incident. Most likely, the suspect will be extradited from South Africa to complete the case in Nigeria.
While answering questions, the Anambra police chief disclosed that preliminary investigations so far have cleared the prime suspect, Aloysius Ikegwonu alias Bishop, of any involvement in the murder.
The CP announced that three suspects in connection with this ugly incident are currently in custody and will be tried in court on charges of conspiracy and murder.
However, the Police Commissioner assured the public that all those involved in this dastardly act would be arrested.
