African National Congress (ANC) president Cyril Ramaphosa has praised South Africans who voted in South Africa's various missions around the world. Citizens living abroad are voting in the 2024 election.
South Africa's elections will be held on the 29th of this month, with special voting taking place two days before the national election. The ANC president, who was campaigning in KwaZulu-Natal, said this was clear evidence that South Africans were heeding calls to exercise their right to vote.
“It’s a real blessing for our democracy that thousands of people from all over the world are now going to vote in different places and voting. support,” Ramaphosa said.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) says it is happy to see many South Africans participating in the democratic process despite not being in the country. DA Overseas Chair Rudol Stevens says he is excited to see democracy unfold.
“More than 24,000 South Africans have registered in London alone. Everyone recognizes that elections are extremely important.”

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema said young people turned out in large numbers to vote for various missions around the world. Malema says it is important for young people to participate in the democratic process.

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) is also participating in overseas voting.

London, which has the highest number of voters, reported a significant turnout of over 24,000 people.
