The DA called for unity in defending South Africa's constitution. DA leader John Steenhuisen sent his best wishes for the new year. Steenhuisen called for prioritizing economic growth in 2025.
“Let us put aside our differences and come together. We must not allow the destroyers who seek to destroy our constitution and divide our country to succeed. We also need to rebuild our economy. To save it, we must fight for two goals: inclusive economic growth and jobs.”

MK leader and former president Jacob Zuma joined other politicians in wishing South Africans a happy and prosperous new year.
Mr Zuma said the party would continue fighting to change the lives of the poor in the new year.
He said they were committed to championing the path for poor black people, but would remain the party of all South Africans, regardless of skin color or creed.
“Happy New Year to everyone in our country, South Africa. We would like to say to all South Africans that we hope you enjoy this year. As you know, we are first of all We have our problems, but remember at the end we said that we need all the things we want as black people in this country. We have to be equal in South Africa and we have to come together. We will not drive anyone away, but we must all enjoy this country.”
