In an interview with ABC's Good Morning America show on Friday, the prince made his first public comments about the king's health.
He said he heard the news directly from Charles and “went to see him as soon as possible.”
Prince Harry said: “I love my family,” adding that he was “grateful” to spend a short time with his father last week.
Prince Harry is speaking in Canada and taking part in training sessions with Meghan Markle a year ahead of the Invictus Games, an event he organizes for injured veterans.
Asked if the disease could bring his family back together, Harry replied: “Yes, I'm sure.”

Referring to the game, he added, “Through all the families I see every day, the family bond is growing stronger.”
Prince Harry did not elaborate on his father's health, saying, “It's just between me and my father.”
Prince Harry retired from royal duties in 2020 and moved to California with his American wife and two young children.

Harry said: “I'm planning another trip through the UK and back, so I'll be stopping by and seeing my family as much as possible.”
He also said he had considered becoming a U.S. citizen, but that was not his current priority.
Prince Charles was diagnosed just 17 months into his reign following the death of his 96-year-old mother Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022.
