The business summit will be attended by two heads of state, Cyril Ramaphosa and Yoweri Museveni, from South Africa and Uganda. Ministers of trade, tourism and investment, heads of government ministries, policy makers and the private sector will also participate.
In addition to identifying existing and emerging business and investment opportunities in Uganda and South Africa, the summit will provide a platform for the private sector, businesses and businesses to find ways to create new markets and promote their businesses. Offers.
According to PSFU chief executive Stephen Asimwe, South Africa is one of Uganda's fastest growing countries for foreign direct investment.
“In 2010 alone, Uganda attracted up to US$848 million in FDI. We also intend to work with Ugandans exiled to South Africa to build partnerships on the many opportunities they are working on. ,” Asimwe said.
Asimwe said it is estimated that more than 500,000 Ugandans live and work in southern Africa.
The Uganda Private Foundation serves as the secretariat and coordinates all parties involved in the summit. So far, 160 Ugandan companies have already registered to participate in the summit, with the highest number of participants coming from the sectors of agriculture and agribusiness, tourism and hospitality, professional services, transport and logistics, energy and minerals, and ICT. .
Asimwe said the main objective of the summit was to promote Uganda's beauty and economic potential to become Africa's premier trade, tourism and investment destination.
Last year, PSFU launched and conducted business missions to Kenya, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, South Sudan, UAE, Vietnam, the United States, and more.
