South African activist Professor Thuli Madonsela has come to the defence of Chidinma Adesina and told the nation why the young model deserves to take part in the Miss South Africa pageant.
In a series of tweets, former prosecutor Thuli used the law to explain to South Africans why they should support Chidinma.
“Dear fellow South Africans, please note that applying section 2(1) of the Citizenship Act 1995 to information in the public domain, Ms Chidimma Vanessa Adesina is a South African by birth and is lawfully participating in the Miss South Africa pageant,” the statement read.
She called on people to stop arguing and support the 23-year-old woman.
“If she wins she will be eligible to represent us as #MissSA2024 #MissSA. As I said yesterday, you don't need to have parents who are South African to be a born South African citizen. Please stop the noise and support #Chidimma and all the #MissSA contestants,” Madonsela said.
