Vanderbijl Park. – As Mzansi recently commemorated World Radio Day, Star South had the opportunity to speak with one of the prominent figures in the radio industry, Oupa Setale.
Mr Setale, who is known not only as a judge at the Telkom Radio Awards but also as chief spokesperson for Empowaworx, shared his insights on the importance of World Radio Day.
With a memorable 17-year career as a media mogul, Setare passionately emphasized the important role that radio plays in the lives of many individuals.
“Radio is woven into the fabric of society in ways I never imagined or dreamed of, not just as a radio practitioner, but as a listener and as an avid radio fan,” he said. Ta.
Mr. Setare highlighted the evolution of radio and pointed out how it has adapted to new trends.
“In the past, you would have wondered what the presenter looked like behind the microphone, but now with new technology, you can go live on Facebook and other social platforms and connect with your listeners. ” he added.
Mr Setale also highlighted the rise of online radio stations, acknowledging their potential but warning that South Africa may not be fully prepared as data costs are too high.
Throughout his career, Setare has contributed to the formation of numerous radio stations in the Vaal region, making them powerful tools for the dissemination of information.
Reflecting on World Radio Day, Setare reiterated the enduring relevance of radio in an ever-changing media landscape.
