African National Congress (ANC) president Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed concern about the weak party branch in the Western Cape. The party has not held power in the state since 2009, when it lost to the Democratic Alliance (DA).
Mr Ramaphosa today told party supporters in a statement on January 8 in Khayelitsha that the weakening of branches in the state was contributing to the party's inability to govern with a majority.
“We found exactly the same thing. Our branches have become weak, and with the weakening of the branches we have lost the ability to govern ourselves. So, comrades, this is a great lesson for us. We need to revive our branches. We need to work hard,” says Ramaphosa.
