Media reports (City Press, January 13, 2014) describe the Imbumba Business Group's intention to march in Durban to call on authorities to stop bidding to Indians.
“Imbumba is among the group's prominent businessmen and politicians, who claim to be ardent ANC supporters,” the report said.
The report also describes the work of another group, the Mazibwe Africa Forum, which distributed pamphlets across KwaZulu-Natal to “stop people from inciting violence against Indians.” It is said that there are.
Both groups therefore openly display racism in President Zuma's political backyard, and both appear to include ANC members.
According to the report, local ANC officials say their members are not allowed to join Mazibwe (and possibly Imbumba), but such shameful and blatant racism in the president's political circles You have to ask yourself how this could happen.
We cannot forget that the ANC vice-president was recently criticized for calling on voters to stop the “Boers” from taking over the country again. No matter how you look at it, this country's empowerment laws are increasing racial tensions in the country. And just last week, the president appealed to racial stereotypes in defending his admissions record.
Forgetting the proud contribution of Indians and all other groups in this country in the fight against apartheid, the ANC and the government are now repeatedly using race and racial polarization as a kind of blunt weapon to thwart the opposition. It seems like the intention is to demonize and instill fear in others. You can achieve your own selfish goals.
The tone-deaf ANC and government seem unable to understand that South Africans want an inclusive, growing economy and one that benefits all South Africans. This is Agang SA's philosophy and we have designed our economic policy around it.
Recovering the early promises of the Mandela era means finding ways to create and provide opportunities for all South Africans. And we provide young people with the highest quality education and training so that they have every chance of success.
We reject attempts to exploit race to further our interests. If our people have leaders who constantly use race and racial stereotypes to intimidate others and force them into some type of submission simply because of who they are, We cannot become the country we want to be if we are encouraged by our actions.
The time has come for all South Africans to say, “No more.”
