Manager Robert Page said he is “confident” about Wales' future in the Nations League after draws with Iceland, Montenegro and Turkey.
Wales finished bottom of Group A4 in the 2022-23 competition, but are back in the second tier of the competition.
They avoided some of the top teams in League B, but will once again face Turkey, who surpassed Wales in their Euro 2024 qualifiers.
“I think it's a positive group. We're very happy,” Page said.
“We know Turkey well because we played there recently. I thought our performance at home was great.” [1-1 in November 2023] It was very good and on another day we could have won the match.
“We were down to 10 men away after 40 minutes, but without that, this is what the result would have been.” [2-0 defeat in June 2023] It would have been different. Therefore, we know everything about them.
“For other teams, we need to do a little more research and ask the analysts to do their jobs.
“If we can perform like we did against Croatia, [2-1 win in October 2023] For Turkey, the home team, the result will be decided by itself. we're pretty confident. ”
Wales will begin their Nations League campaign in September with two group stage matches, followed by two in October and two in November.
Page's side will next host Finland in the Euro 2024 play-off semi-finals on March 21, followed by a potential play-off final at home to Poland or Estonia five days later.
It was Wales' record in the Nations League to qualify for the play-offs after missing out on automatic qualification, and the same could be the case for the 2026 World Cup in North America.
European qualifying for the tournament begins next year. The winner of each of these groups automatically qualifies, and his second place in each group will participate in the World Cup playoffs.
The top four Nations League group winners who did not qualify either way will also qualify for the World Cup playoffs.
As Wales qualify for the 2022 World Cup, the rearranged play-off final against Ukraine will be played between two Nations League games, one in Poland and the other at home to the Netherlands. It needed to be done.
Page rotated his squad and started a weakened squad for both games in order to field the strongest possible team to face Ukraine.
Although Wales achieved their ultimate goal of qualifying for the World Cup for the first time since 1958, they lost both games against Poland and the Netherlands, and finished bottom of Group A4 with only one point from six games, and were relegated. Ta.
“What I like about this group is that we [2022 World Cup] Among them, the playoff final influenced the choice between the two. [Nations League] game,” Page told BBC Sport at Thursday's Nations League draw in Paris.
“So it's great to be able to take part in this competition, treat it as a competition in itself, play with the best teams and get results.”
