Rise Mzansi: R15 million donation
The SABC reported on Sunday February 18 that Rise Mzansi had confirmed that it had received a R15 million donation from Rebecca Oppenheimer.
The new political party will be registered with the IEC in October 2023 and will be led by Songezo Zibi, former editor-in-chief of Business Day and the Financial Mail.
The publication adds that political parties are required to declare donations exceeding R100 000 and up to R15 million under the Political Party Funding Act.
The party also revealed it had received more than R1 million from 1564 Main Street, more than R500,000 from Kairos Communications and more than R100,000 from Injozi Design.
The Citizen reported that Rebecca Oppenheimer is the granddaughter of De Beers founder Harry Oppenheimer, the diamond company's former chairman.

South Africans react to Julius Malema's video
@Iam_Iamtaelo: “I remember it well. Julius asked a simple question: 'Who is funding these people?' He even asked journalists to investigate. Everyone was saying, “Oh, he's jealous of all the attention he's getting.'' Who has eggs on their face? ”
@WilliamKgasi2: “At least Rebecca is a moral citizen unlike Malema who takes money from dog characters.”
@pale_lelepa: “Really? Has he ever revealed who financed the R6 million mansion he demolished to build a R16 million complex in Sandton? What happened to Mazzotti's mansion? And did he tell his “donors” to make small donations to abide by IEC standards? ”
@Somagwaza3: “Looks like Rebecca Oppenheimer is from America. Julius Malema is never wrong.”
@Phijaphija_M: “What are the Oppenheimers going to get in return?”
@thandomasanabo: “I think starting a political party and pitching it to the Oppenheimer family is a new way to become a millionaire. Les Lokeren…Copa Number za Rebecca.”
@Koolfello1: “Hi, now we are going to listen to @Julius_S_ Malema, he said so. These EFF presa are also known as national mgosi (gossip).
