CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe highlighted the following increases ahead of Afcon's kick-off:
“CAF has made great strides in the past two years in increasing prize money for AFCON and all other major competitions,” Motsepe said.
“We have increased the prize money for AFCON winners to $7 million, which is a 40% increase from the previous AFCON prize money.
“We are confident that a portion of the prize money will not only contribute to the development of football and benefit all football stakeholders, but also support the operations of our member associations.”
