The musician, whose full name is Tyra Laura Cesar, was ecstatic after her name was revealed as the winner.
“Oh my god! What the hell? What? Oh my god! Guys, this is crazy. I never thought I'd win a Grammy at 22 years old. You guys don't know me. My name is… I'm Tila. I'm from South Africa and last year God decided to change my whole life. So I'm really thankful to God, I'm grateful to my team, I'm grateful to my family, I'm grateful that my mother is here somewhere. I know you’re crying.”
Tyra said it felt great to receive the award.
“I'm sure people will keep saying that for a long time to come. I'm really excited and honored. It means a lot to me to be the first winner of this category as it's the first time this category has been introduced. ”

Tyra said she has always been a supporter of African music.
“I love African music, I make it and listen to it all the time, and I believed in it for a long time. I'm so happy that it's now being appreciated.”

Gigi Kodwa, Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, congratulated the trailblazer Tyra on winning her first Grammy Award.

Tyra's single “Water” entered the top 40 global playlists on Spotify and was streamed over 40 million times.
The song also reached number 82 on the Apple Music US chart, making it the highest charting song by a South African artist since Master KG. Jerusalema.
When news broke that her song had made history, South African-born Muso dedicated the achievement to Mzansi, leading many social media users to wonder about the Amapiano sensation.
After her big break, Tyra signed a recording contract with Epic Records through a joint venture with Fax Records in the US.
