Soweto Central Chorus (SCC) and Grammy Award-winning group Ladysmith Black Mambazo have released their long-awaited single. Usk Orzayo.
The single also features Grammy Award-winning artist Terrace Martin and renowned South African jazz producer Ndbo Zulu.
The song serves as a preview for their upcoming joint album, scheduled for release in January 2025.
talk to The CitizenSCC CEO Faith Zarekill said the relationship between the chorus and Ladysmith Black Mambazo goes back many years, but their first collaboration was in 2023 when they worked together on a concert.
“Because of that collaboration, I was finally able to record this single and album with them.”

SCC and Ladysmith Black Mambazo Usk Orzayo.
The event will give guests a first taste of the single and some songs from the joint album.
The album and single will be supported by a concert series celebrating 65 years of Ladysmith Black Mambazo's achievements.
Founded in 1960 by Joseph Shabalala, Ladysmith Black Mambazo have since made their mark on the global music scene, winning five Grammy Awards over the years.
Meanwhile, since its formation 13 years ago, SCC has grown to a 60-member ensemble from Mofolo, Soweto.
The central mission of the choir is to serve through song and spread the word of God.
They have collaborated with notable South African artists, including Something Soweto on their 2019 hit song. Bawowhich has received over 8 million views on YouTube.
Other notable collaborators include Ntokozo Mbambo, Nqubeko Mbatha, Mbuso Khoza and Khaya Mthethwa.
“SCC's mission is to create music that touches the soul and builds spirituality, regardless of genre boundaries,” said Manzini Zungu, SCC's music director.
