Thanks to yet another frustratingly disjointed performance, squandering an early advantage and bracing for a potential late upset, the Lions cruised to a 34-13 win over Welsh side Cardiff, United Rugby. They kept their slim hope of advancing to the championship (URC) playoffs. .
Facing a side they hadn't beaten since Boxing Day, the Lions almost became complacent in the first half when they controlled the game, and the visitors clawed back from a 17-3 deficit at half-time to make it a screeching 20. They were at a 2-to-2 disadvantage. 13/4 left.
But the hosts hung on and substitute flanker Emmanuel Sitka scored two crucial tries in the final 10 minutes to keep them in the top eight despite what is expected to be a tough battle against leaders Glasgow on Saturday.
