Music mogul Sean Combs, aka P. Diddy, has been arrested and charged with racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation for the purposes of prostitution.
The 54-year-old man was arrested in New York City on Monday.
The first charge in the indictment is racketeering conspiracy, a federal crime that targets organized crime syndicates, known as “corporations,” such as the Mafia.
“Members and associates of Combs Enterprises engaged in or attempted to engage in activities that included sex trafficking, forced labor, interstate transportation for the purpose of prostitution, coercion and enticement of prostitution, drug offenses, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice,” the indictment states.
According to the indictment, Combs engaged in elaborate sex acts known as “freak-offs,” in which he drugged his victims and forced them to engage in extended sex acts with male prostitutes.
The indictment alleges that this “abnormal activity” occurred regularly and sometimes lasted for several days.
“Combs also used the confidential, embarrassing and incriminating recordings he made during the Freak Offs as collateral to secure the victims' continued compliance and silence,” the indictment states.
According to the indictment, Combs “engaged in persistent and pervasive abuse of women and other individuals. This abuse was at times verbal, emotional, physical and sexual.”
The indictment cites an incident that took place at a Los Angeles hotel around March 2016. The incident, which was “recorded on video and later made public,” shows Combs kicking, dragging the woman and throwing a vase. When hotel staff intervened, Combs attempted to bribe them to keep quiet, the indictment adds.
