South African entertainers Winnie Mashaba, Elizabeth Sernier and Sello Maake Kancube have been honored by the allegedly fake institution Trinity International Bible University.
Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande said Trinity International Bible College, which awarded actor Sello Maake Kancube an honorary doctorate, is not registered and therefore does not have the authority to award the qualification.
On Saturday, Maake Kancube expressed his excitement and celebrated receiving an honorary doctorate.
“Look God! Now this is Dr. Sello Maake Kancube Can someone please tell my co-pilot Pearl Mbewe Maake Kancube @Solopearl. [wife] She is no longer traveling this life's journey with just a national treasure, but with an honorable doctor! ” he wrote to X.

The Minister of Higher Education frowned upon unregistered universities.

“We would also like to state that we, as the Ministry, have previously written to Trinity International University warning them to continue their illegal operations and to regularize their operations. As a department, we asked the Council on Education (CHE) for guidance on who should offer the prestigious qualification and how. I have nothing against people,” said the department’s spokesperson Veli Mbele.
“The Ministry is considering more comprehensive and decisive action against Trinity International Bible College and all other individuals or entities that continue to violate the Ministry’s regulations. As the Department of Higher Education and Training, I We look forward to working with Trinity International Bible College and the luminaries they honor to better explain our position.”
