The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has confirmed that Ukozi FM presenter Siya Mhlongo has taken a leave of absence to “deal with personal matters”.
This follows reports that Mhlongo allegedly assaulted his girlfriend with a beer bottle in Durban on Saturday, August 31.
The incident reportedly happened when the two were returning home from a night out.
A video circulating on social media shows Mhlongo sitting at the wheel and urging “Njabulo” to get in the car and take him to hospital.
The gory, bloody video shows the man trying to wipe blood from his face after he was allegedly assaulted.

SABC: “Siya Mhlongo has requested time off work to deal with personal matters.”
After the incident, Mhlongo's radio show Ubusk Oburewas taken over by his acting counterpart, Zama Mseleku, who took over from Monday, September 2nd.
“Ukozi FM management would like to confirm that Siya Mhlongo has requested to take some time off work to deal with some personal matters. Zama Mseleku will be deputizing for him during this time,” SABC media relations manager Mmoni Seapolhelo told The Citizen.
Cipolelo said management is aware of the video in question and wants to address the issue internally.
“At this stage, management is keen to be given the opportunity to address the matter internally in line with the SABC process. Furthermore, if the matter is reported to law enforcement authorities, management will also respect this process,” Seapolello added.
Mhlongo was also well known as a host. Take control of your day He hosted a radio show there before leaving Metro FM earlier this year to move to Ukozi FM.
