The ANC's national executive committee (NEC) is due to hold a special meeting today at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg, Johannesburg, to discuss options for a coalition government following a general election in which the party failed to secure a majority.

ANC member Esethu Hasane says there has been a proliferation of media articles attempting to put pressure on the ANC by suggesting that the only functioning coalition government is a DA coalition government.
“We go to the ANC to show solidarity with the NEC leadership and tell them not to listen to any pressure, because the pressure that is out there right now is to give the impression that there is only one option and that South Africans want that option. We want to present the alternative, which is that there are some South Africans who don't want that option,” Hasan said.
