DJ Fresh paid tribute to Thabiso Sikwane at a memorial service held last Friday.
The DJ publicly apologised for all the pain and heartache he suffered from the late Mr Thabiso during their 20-year marriage.
“Sorry, my friend,” he said.
DJ Fresh and Thabiso announced their divorce in 2022, but the pair remained best friends and co-parented their children.
“It doesn't make sense. One thing I'm grateful for, especially with these children you've given us, is that they're just like you.”
“This woman was love incarnate and she gave me more forgiveness than I deserved. She never gave up on me as a person. Even when I said, 'Maybe I should give up on this,' she said it with love. Anyone else would have walked away from me a long time ago, but she was love and she didn't give up,” the DJ said.
“The only obligation I was supposed to give to her when I recorded the podcast last week was a public apology for any pain I caused her. That's what that podcast was about. A public apology for all the pain, all the heartache, all the embarrassment, all the public stares that I caused you.”
“I have apologized to you and the children, but it's not complete until I apologize publicly.”
