Jack Nienaber left the Springboks at the end of the successful Rugby World Cup and moved to Leinster. Meanwhile, the arrival of Felix Jones to England necessitated a major change in technical staff by Rassie.
Ninavar served as head coach and defense coach. Additionally, Jones was also a defensive coach. Therefore, it is important for Lassie and SA Rugby to consider personnel who can play an active role in 2024.

Lassie identifies New Zealand and Ireland as targets
Former All Blacks player and icon Tony Brown is set to become the Springboks' new attack coach.
Meanwhile, Flannery will be the new defensive coach.

Brown has a rich background in SA rugby having played for the Sharks and Stormers.
The former All Blacks and Highlanders flyhalf is known for his flair and creativity in attack. He is both a player and a coach. In addition, he recently cooperated with Japan. During his time, the Brave Blossoms became one of the most dynamic and entertaining teams in world rugby.

Just imagine what he could do with Cheslin Kolbe, Kurt-Lee Arendse, Damian Willemse, Handre Pollard, Marie Lubbock, Grant Williams, Kanan Moody and others. This is a frightening prospect for opposing defenders.
World class defense – food and water for my rugby
The Springbok defense played a key role in both recent Rugby World Cup victories. Who can forget the Boks' legendary and iconic defense on the tryline in the 2019 Rugby World Cup final against England?
SA defended the try line in brave and heroic fashion, putting their bodies on the line for each other and for their country, hitting one big hit after another. For more than five minutes, the entire English Army Group threw everything they had at the Boks five meters away, but could not get over the line and played for everything.

Most recently, in the Rugby World Cup final against New Zealand, the Boks did not concede a single goal in the final 20 minutes despite a late attack. He also held off a late attack from a frenzied French team in the quarterfinals in front of a crowd of more than 80,000. Defense wins trophies and the Boks truly embody this description.
They are now hoping to sign former Irish hooker Gerry Flannery, with whom Rassie worked at Munster. He is currently Harlequins' defense coach and if Rassie rates him highly, there is no reason to doubt him.
