Cape Town Spurs had to come from behind to survive a 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates on Wednesday afternoon.
The Urban Warriors defeated the Buccaneers in the first round, taking four points from the Soweto Giants this season.
Chiefs warn Pirates ahead of Soweto derby
The resurgent Spurs are now just two points behind 15th placed Richards Bay with 11 games remaining.
Pirates started the game aggressively, creating more chances than Spurs, and it was no surprise that they scored the first goal.
Lelebohile Mofokeng opened the scoring for the home side early in the 12th minute, with his curling shot curling into the bottom corner of the goal.
The Buccaneers dominated the game but couldn't find the solid goal to secure the three points at Orlando Stadium.
Pirates denied by Cape Town Spurs at home
With 14 minutes remaining, Gabriel Camadzi hit a long-range shot that beat Sifo Chain in the Pirates goal.
Jose Ribeiro's side looked to restore their lead, but the Cape side held firm at the back and earned a 1-1 draw away.
Spurs' relegation battle continues, but they will surely be satisfied if they pick up a point away from home and take four points from Pirates.
Sea Robbers will face Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby on Saturday.
