Hull KR tryscorer Niall Evalls told BBC Radio 5 Sport Extra:
“This is a huge deal for me. The injury problems I've had in recent years are well documented. It's a different position for me on the wing, but I enjoyed every moment.”
“The fans were fantastic. It's a special occasion to play in the Hull derby. I've been missing rugby league so it was great to come out and get the win.”
“Hull are a good team and exactly what you would expect from a derby. I'm happy, but it's only the first round. We have a lot of work to do and we want to build from here.”
Hull KR head coach Willie Peters told BBC Radio Humberside:
“I'm happy with our defense and we were happy with the two points we got, but we still have work to do offensively.
“To play against 12 players and 11 players, we probably need to score a few more points than we did.
“But overall, considering it's the first round, I'm definitely happy to get the win and the way we defended.”
Hull FC head coach Tony Smith told BBC Radio Humberside:
“We were looking to see if it was Friday the 13th or something. That's all part of it, but there's no excuse. Our opponent was better than us and deserved the win. .We're going to be grateful for that.'
“I don’t think we could have played much worse in the first half to get to a 14-0 scoreline.
“I thought they had a really brave effort in the second half, my sons, and the effort was exceptional.”
