Mpumalanga police arrested a taxi commuter with a 4kg dagga wrapped in duct tape around his waist.
Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Selby Mohlala said border force agents from Mahamba arrested Bekitemba Simelane, 43, from Eswatini during a search on the N2 Piet Retief-Pongola road.
Mohlala added that Simelane was on his way to Vryheid in KwaZulu-Natal.
“Information indicates that police officers at Mahamba Port of Entry were conducting a routine stop and search operation when they stopped a Toyota Quantum taxi.
“A search was conducted and a large quantity of dagga weighing 3.922 kg was found wrapped around Mr Simelane's body,” he said.

Mohlala added that Simelane appeared in the Pete Retief Magistrate Court on Wednesday.
He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on March 6.
The incident occurred after a 25-year-old man was arrested at the Jepps Reef border crossing on Thursday morning. Mohlala said the man was charged with immigration offenses and possession of dagga.
