Award-winning singer Thandiswa Mazwai is set to embark on an exciting US and UK tour this November.
This tour leads to her long-awaited tour Umbreroan appreciation concert held at the State Theater in Pretoria.
talk to The CitizenMazwai expressed his excitement for the upcoming tour, highlighting the unique experience of performing internationally.
She pointed out that overseas venues create a different atmosphere than performances back home.
“My gigs abroad are often in small venues, but I haven't done that in South Africa for many years. Preparing for these shows means tailoring my performances to more intimate audiences. .
“And we always have to remember that most audiences outside of South Africa don't sing along as famously as ours does,” she added.
This tour follows a memorable year for Mazwai, who celebrated the 20th anniversary of the release of his debut album. Sabalaza.

“Next year I will celebrate 30 years in this industry, and after that I will celebrate my 50th birthday.”
“This is a huge milestone in my life and I am so humbled by the amazing experiences I have had. I just want my music to inspire joy, healing, and self-love. I want to be,” Mazwai said.

Mazwai's return to South Africa will be marked by her Umbrero Concert, a “Thanksgiving” show dedicated to her supporters.
She shared that the concert, scheduled for Dec. 7, will include songs from all the albums, as well as new favorites such as: Sabella, Kurungirand children of the soil.
“This show is to thank everyone who has supported me, my family, friends, and the beautiful people who listen to my music.
“I couldn't have done any of this without you. I look forward to singing with you at the State Theatre.”
Mazwai said she is humbled by her journey and the support she has received over the years.
She added that after such a great year, she is looking forward to seeing what the next year has in store for her.

USA/UK tour
Mazwai's tour also includes stops at famous venues such as Boston's Crystal Ballroom, New York's Le Poisson Rouge, Toronto's Koerner Hall, and London's Jazz Café and Barbican.
She began her tour on Tuesday with a talk about her work and Africa hosted by Dr. Sarah Settraello at Harvard University's Center for African Studies.
